My Golf Journey

Hi, I'm Jace, and my golf journey began in 2023 when I attended a Saturday Junior Academy at Weymouth Golf Club run by PGA Professional Mark Rankin.

Before joining Mark's academy, I couldn't even hit a golf ball properly, but I immediately fell in love with the game. After a few sessions, I started taking private lessons with Mark, and that's where my journey really began. Mark has taught me everything I know about golf and has played a huge part in helping me become the golfer I am today. From my very first swing to competing in major junior events, he has guided me every step of the way.

Since starting golf, I've been fortunate enough to compete in a number of tournaments and achieve some results that I'm really proud of. One of my biggest achievements so far was winning the Lynx Tour Division 2 Championship in 2025. I've also had the opportunity to represent myself in prestigious competitions such as the Peter Alliss County Competition and the Faldo Futures Tournament, where I qualified at Iford Golf Club to progress to the Regional Finals.

Although I'm proud of what I've achieved so far, I know there is still a long way to go. I started golf much later than many of the players I compete against, which means I've had to work incredibly hard to catch up. What motivates me is not just catching up, but continually improving and pushing myself to compete with the very best junior golfers. Every handicap reduction, every tournament, and every practice session is another step towards achieving my goals.

Golf isn't just about what happens on the course. To help improve my performance, I also work hard off the course. I train twice a week at Gym Geek with Connor and Joe, focusing on strength and conditioning to help me become stronger, fitter, and more athletic. This has become a huge part of my development and helps me prepare both physically and mentally for competition.

In 2026, I moved my home club to Came Down Golf Club, where I've been lucky enough to meet and compete alongside a fantastic group of like-minded junior golfers. The competitive environment has pushed me to improve even further, and I love challenging myself against other players who share the same passion for the game. While Came Down is now my home club, Weymouth Golf Club will always hold a special place in my heart as the place where my golfing journey first began.

Another exciting part of my development is working with Mark at his new facility, MR Golf Lab. Every week I spend two hours training on the GCQuad launch monitor, analysing every aspect of my swing and performance. The technology allows me to understand my game in incredible detail and helps identify the small improvements that can make a big difference on the course.

Golf has taught me discipline, resilience, patience, and the value of hard work. I've learned that success doesn't happen overnight, and that every improvement comes from dedication, commitment, and a willingness to keep learning.

I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me on my journey so far—my family, coaches, friends, sponsors, and fellow golfers. Their support allows me to continue chasing my goals and competing at the highest level possible.

This is only the beginning of my journey. I will continue to work hard, keep learning, and push myself every day to become the best golfer I can be.
